Farmer seeks wife: Bernice prefers to be alone (with her dog)

In Sweden, farmer Bernice Jellema has sent her two Frisians home again. Her BOD adventure is over. “I can probably laugh about it later, but now I feel like shit that it didn’t work out.”

“If it’s the same, then it’s the net.” With this well-aimed tile saying, Johan can start the dating adventure farmer seeks wife (BOD) concisely summarized. On the farm in Sweden, farmer Bernice Jellema has just told him that she does not want to go on a city trip with him. But she doesn’t want that with her other guest, Ype-Jacob from Oentsjerk either. The men can return to Friesland.

It has all been too overwhelming for Bernice, this television search for love. The audience on the couch at home saw the shy farmer’s wife doubt, falter, bravely persevere and hide again episode after episode. But now (episode 11!) Bernice rolls up her sleeves and takes action: there are no jitters in sight, so BOD stops here and now.

Ype-Jacob takes the news with a sporty attitude. He just wishes her all the happiness. At the farewell, when Bernice has said ‘sorry’ at least ten times: “You are a great person. I think it’s super cool of you, really.” And Johan (he had the jitters) also has to more or less comfort her. “Don’t say sorry. You are cool. Thank you for the nice weeks.” Never before have they exchanged such warm hugs.

Jellema United

For the time being it is Jellema United again on the family estate of the dairy farmers and breeders of Frisian horses. Over coffee – the men are already on their way to the airport – careful jokes are made. Bernice wants to go out and buy guinea pigs. What about alpacas? Mom’s idea. Different chickens, that’s nice too. Can they share eggs?

She takes a swing across the yard on the riding mower. She wears hearing protectors on the way there. On the way back, her dog gets a ride and she puts headphones on him.

Bernice tries to explain it again. What it feels like, this shock wave in her calm life. “With people around you, you have to do your best to keep up and keep up the pace. Only that is not necessary. That may sound sad, but I like that.”

She doesn’t give up on love! Reflecting: “I can probably laugh about it later, but now I feel like shit that it didn’t work out. That it had to end this way. I haven’t lost hope yet, I have hope that love will still come. Not right now, but I definitely want to find love.”

Mixed success

Another tourist tour through the rest of Europe: the other four emigrated farmers are on a city trip within the country’s borders with a partner of their choice. These proceed with varying degrees of success.

In rainy Aarhus in Denmark, Haico (in platform soles) and Jasmijn struggle through the days. They sleep in different hotel rooms on different floors and no, it’s not cozy. She: “Things are not going very smoothly between us yet. I think it’s largely my fault.” Tears well up: the anticipated soul connection seems to have disappeared.

The romantic re-education of farmer Piet Jongsma (63) has begun in Hannover, Germany. Anke enjoys that big man next to her, he has his buddy to do fun things with. They explore the streets in matching Bermuda shorts.

There is definitely romance, but Anke also has work to do: “Sometimes I think: ‘Gosh, that you know so little about life around you.’ He needs someone to embrace life.” Piet: “Huh?”

Make arrangements

Richard and Robin conquer Slovakia on hiking boots. They make a lot of fun (?). With a bridal suite as a base, they often go out into nature. He is “very wise” with her, she says that the feelings are fine. “But I still want to know how you are doing love languages sit…” ,

Ahhhhhh…

Do you hear that soothing sigh? These are the French-Dutch farmer Claudia and Paul, the man of her dreams. She takes him by surprise when she beams and says that she has chosen him. Paul answers something like what the fuck and jeetjemineetje and sapperdeflap and continues that he is flabbergasted.

In short: here are two people madly in love as a couple of frisky Blonde d’Aquitaines on a city trip to the coastal town of Deauville. Claudia: “Shall I say something? I’m jumping for joy. How special this is. Here I am just sitting with my little Paul!”

He: “Wow!”
