The Brazilian brand Farm Rio is planning to open several pop-up stores in various European cities as part of its expansion. After an initial opening in the Paris department store Bon Marché, further temporary areas are to follow – including in Berlin’s KaDeWe and at well-known points of sale in Milan, London, Zurich and Madrid, the company announced on Friday.
The brand plans to open 35 to 55 stores in the US and Europe in the coming years, as well as adding new product categories. The first pop-up will open in Paris on April 30, and Farm Rio will occupy the 260 square meter sales area until mid-June. The temporary store is an opportunity for the brand to “show the world more of Brazil”. Alongside clothing and accessories from the SS22 collection, Farm Rio will also feature pieces by Brazilian artists and collectives – as the company relies heavily on partnerships that highlight Brazilian craftsmanship.
International expansion with colorful fashion
Farm Rio was founded in 1997 by Katia Barros and Marcello Bastos. Initially, the fashion label existed as a small stand at an independent fashion market in Rio. Farm Rio then grew steadily – the brand currently has 80 stationary points of sale in Brazil. Farm Rio has also been represented in the USA since 2019 and has now opened four points of sale, including in New York and Miami. The European online shop was launched in January. According to the company, there are 650,000 active customers worldwide, and 25,000 orders are processed monthly.
Farm Rio’s fashion is colorful, cheerful and extravagant – the label describes the style as “exotic with a holiday feeling, modern and vintage-inspired at the same time” and thus embodies “the feminine spirit and the strong colors of Rio.” The assortment ranges from dresses and jumpsuits to trousers, denim, T-shirts and knitwear, as well as sportswear, swimwear and outerwear and shoes. In terms of price, the label ranges between 57 euros for printed T-shirts and 450 euros for embroidered sneakers. Farm Rio has collaborated with brands such as Adidas, Havaianas and Levi’s.
