A large fire has raged in an empty farm on the IJweg in Hoofddorp. The fire brigade responded to a very large fire around 7.30 pm, but it is now under control. The farm has been completely destroyed.
According to a spokesperson for the safety region, there were no casualties. The shed behind the house also burned down, releasing a lot of smoke. Measurements are currently being taken in the area to see whether any toxic substances have been released.
Plot already sold
The Zuleikha farm, that is the name of the farm, had already been nominated for demolition. The plot has also been purchased by Otto Wieringa of ROW Vastgoed. He said before against NH: “It had been empty for years and is a dilapidated mess. There had already been arson twice and that is why the municipality also wanted us to tackle the building.” The plan is to build ten single-family homes in the form of a farm.
