Fatoş Sayın, the brother of master artist Emel Sayın, who was treated for lung cancer, passed away on Saturday, 6 August. Emel Sayın, who made the statement “What I say is not enough”, cried for a long time over the coffin of his brother Fatoş Sayın, who was sent off on his last journey with the funeral prayer at Zincirlikuyu Mosque.
Emel Sayın’s sister Fatma Tektaş (74) succumbed to lung cancer, which she had been fighting for nine months. The artist, who was devastated by the sad news he received last Saturday, announced the death of his brother with a post on his Instagram account.

Fatma Tektaş was sent off on her last journey with the funeral prayer performed at Zincirlikuyu Mosque yesterday. Emel Sayın, who was not left alone by her close family friends as well as famous actors Müjdat Gezen and Nilgün Belgün on her painful day, could not hold back her tears when the funeral arrived in the courtyard of the mosque.

Emel Sayın, who prayed for a long time by crying over the coffin of her brother Fatoş Sayın, could hardly stand. The deceased was buried in the family cemetery in Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Cemetery after the funeral prayer.

Emel Sayın has made a statement in the past weeks, “My brother is sick. I am explaining to you for the first time. He has some sadness on me. I hope he will recover as soon as possible. He has been receiving treatment for 1-2 months.”
The 76-year-old singer, who experienced indescribable pain, lost her other brother Hülya Sayın in 2001, her mother Suat Sayın in 2014, and her older sister Şenel Sayın, three years ago, at the age of 62, due to cancer. In an interview, Emel Sayın said, “I suffered a lot. When I go to bed and try to sleep, everything attacks.”
