Burak Yılmaz, who played in Fortuna Sittard, one of the Dutch League teams, shared a remarkable post on Instagram after the 3-1 win in Groningen.
“Dear Fortuna Sittard family and their wonderful fans. It was a great honor to play for you. Thank you for everything. I wish you more good and successful years,” said the scorer pyuncu.
This farewell was met with surprise by the club. Sjoerd Ars, Scout Manager of the Fortuna Sittard Club, said: “We were surprised too, he was very relieved by today’s important victory. Maybe it’s a mistranslation, his English isn’t exactly fluent. Or he’s uncomfortable with his interaction with the public. I don’t know exactly what’s behind him. We’re going to find out exactly what happened,” he said.
Burak Yılmaz was booed by the audience in the last part of the game when Fortuna Sittard beat Groningen 3-1. The former national football player could not experience the joy of scoring in the match.
Last year, Yılmaz signed a five-year contract on the condition that he be a player for the first two years and then take up another position at Sittard club.
