Uruguay’s national soccer hero Luis Suárez returns to his first professional club. The 35-year-old, currently without a club after a commitment at Atletico Madrid (2020-2022), announced on Tuesday (07/26/2022) via Twitter that he had reached an agreement with Nacional Montevideo.
Raised to world class in Liverpool
He made his professional debut in 2005 with the 48-time Uruguayan champions. After FC Groningen and Ajax Amsterdam, Suárez rose to become one of the most dangerous strikers in the world at Liverpool FC (2011-2014), then he had a very successful time at FC Barcelona (2014-2020), with whom he won the Champions League and 2015 won the Club World Cup.
In 2020, Uruguay’s record goalscorer went to Atlético. Recently there were reports that Suárez had been offered to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for the seriously ill Sebastien Haller (testicular tumor).
