Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was once again dominant as he took pole position in qualifying in Qatar.
He drove a Mercedes into the second square George Russellwhich was 0.4 seconds behind Verstappen’s time. Lewis Hamilton rose to third place after two lap time disqualifications.
Originally, McLaren’s Lando Norris set the second fastest time, but the Briton’s lap time was disallowed after breaking the track limits. Another McLaren driver Oscar Piastr’s lap time was also rejected after qualifying.
Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas made it to the third qualifying stage and achieved a good result. Bottas was ninth in the end.
