Albert Verlinde thinks it’s fantastic that Tim Hofman likes to wear nail polish and wear skirts. “I think that’s fantastic,” said the show connoisseur. “He is gender neutral.”
Tim Hofman, who shook Hilversum to its foundations with his documentary about The Voice of Holland, has feminine sides, but hides them so as not to stand out. “I think I would like to wear a skirt more often, that is also nice,” he said at the beginning of last month on NPO Radio 1.
Tim without a skirt
Yet Tim just lets his skirts hang in the closet. “I sometimes choose to wear jeans, a T-shirt and a cap so as not to stand out.”
A skirt on television goes too far for many people, according to Tim. He points to his TV series Over My Dead Body. “That program should not be about me, but about the people who are going to die. Then I shouldn’t stand there in a skirt or in heels, that can distract people.”
Albert praises Tim
But a man in a skirt, isn’t that going a bit far? “I don’t know why I shouldn’t be allowed to wear nail polish or makeup. I’m in the gym in pink socks and with nail polish lifting 200 kilos.”
Albert Verlinde gets all hot from Tim and his skirts. “I think he is a tremendous talent. He also writes poems, I have his collection,” he exults in the Nieuwe Revu. “Tim is someone we have to be careful with in this entertainment world.”
‘I think it is fantastic!’
Those feminine sides of Tim appeal to Albert. “What do I think about a straight man wearing nail polish and wanting to wear a skirt? I think that’s fantastic. Just like a gay man doesn’t necessarily have to go to a premiere in a pink suit. Everyone should wear what he or she likes to wear.”
“Tim takes a gender neutral stance and might therefore consider changing his last name from Hofman to Hofmens.”
