They just wanted to party with their fans. But then there was a real shock moment at the Fantastischen Vier concert in Bonn on Friday!
During the encore of the almost two-hour concert on the Hofgartenwiese in front of the University of Bonn, rapper Smudo (54) fell heavily when jumping and remained motionless on the stage.
Smudo groaned “My knee” and his bandmates rushed to his aid. “It wasn’t a stunt, it’s real,” said Thomas D. (53). The concert in front of 14,000 spectators was canceled.
“We have to stop, folks,” said the dismayed Fantas. “There is nothing you can do. Please send your positive energy to Smudo.”
“Shit, that there is such an end!”, Michi Beck put it in a nutshell.
Rescue workers were called immediately. Smudo was taken to the ambulance on a stretcher, then taken to the hospital. Shocked fans were left behind.
“Yesterday in Bonn, Smudo tore a tendon in his knee during the encore on stage,” say the Fantastischen Vier today on their Facebook page known.
And then we have sad news: “So unfortunately we have to postpone today’s concert in Osnabrück. We are trying to find an alternative date in 2023, tickets remain valid. We’ll get back to you as soon as we know more.”
Band colleague Thomas D. is still badly affected by the accident. He wrote on Twitter: “What can you say? Last concert of the forever 30 years tour, and during the encore Smudo injured his knee so much that we had to stop the concert. And now my friend is in the hospital.”
Michi Beck (54) wishes Smudo a speedy recovery via Instagram. He writes: “Show them in the hospital what a rake is. You gave it your all bro Get well soon.”
And of course the fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Smudo will be back on his feet quickly.
