The first Formula 1 day is a success, if you ask the visitors. Tens of thousands of people came to the races and walked into Zandvoort very satisfied. The atmosphere was ‘top’ and ‘Max drove well’. Mayor Moolenburgh also looks back with satisfaction.
“It’s a pity that Max is behind, but still drove well”, is the report of a young fan from Limburg. He is very positive about his visit, partly because of the crashes he was able to experience live.
The other visitors are also enthusiastic. “Top atmosphere at Zandvoort, always good”, reports one, “Great, everyone comes out for a nice day”, reports the other.
A man from Noordwijk looks back on a memorable day: “I’ve been a Formula 1 fan for a long time and that you now have them in the backyard, that’s really great.” For him it stays with this one race day, the tickets are unfortunately very pricey.
“A lot of people come by train, by bike or on foot. It works.”
Mayor Moolenburgh also looks back on today with satisfaction. “It’s a beautiful day, a pleasant day,” he tells the NOS. “I see a lot of happy faces of people who are going home. The inflow and outflow seem to be going well. A lot of people are by train, by bike or on foot. It works.”
flight show
The air show was special on this first day. Four planes swooped up and over each other, over the sea. Watch parts of the show below.
