King Charles and the rest of the British royal family took the coffin containing Queen Elizabeth to its final resting place in a private ceremony. The interment was in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor. The Dean of Windsor, the spiritual head of Saint George’s Chapel, presided over the interment.
Elizabeth and her husband Philip, who died last year, are interred in the crypt where her parents and sister Margaret are also buried.
On Monday, Britain and the world said goodbye to the Queen with gatherings at Westminster Abbey for 2,200 guests, a coffin ride from London to Windsor and a smaller memorial service at Saint George’s Chapel.
