Families in poverty can go to Efteling for free ‘This is great!’

It is difficult for families in poverty to go out for a day. That is why Efteling and the Leergeld foundation invite families with financial worries to come to the park for a day for free. “This is amazing!” says Marwa Mohamed, who visits the park with her family.

“A day out might cost more than 200 euros,” says Marwa. ‘With the food, also to get here by bus and with the entrance ticket. It is very expensive and difficult to do that on benefits.’

80,000 tickets per year

Efteling and the Leergeld Foundation say that over the next five years the park will make eighty thousand tickets available per year for families with financial problems. They also want to make it possible for them to spend a carefree day in the park.

“I really appreciate this,” says Marwa. ‘My children are completely happy with it. Other families are also happy with it. A family should do something every now and then, because that is good for the children. They need opportunities to see everything and get outside.”
