After the Library of Emmen and cultural knowledge center De Kunst Movement merged into a new organization at the beginning of this year, the name of the merger is now also known. From April 9, the institution of language, art and culture will be called: Facet.

In recent years, the cultural organizations have had to deal with hefty cutbacks from subsidy provider the municipality of Emmen. Both clubs, which had been under one roof for years in the center of Emmen, competed against that discount together. Last year they decided to merge with effect from 2022. The cutbacks were over and a new name had to be put on the facade.

Versatility

According to those involved, Facet symbolizes the versatility of Emmen society. The new organization wants to promote cultural enjoyment in neighborhoods and villages and provide meeting places throughout the municipality.

On Saturday 9 April, Facet will start with a party at the Klazienaveen branch and at the main building on Noorderplein in Emmen. The question is whether that will remain the home port in the coming years. The library has already indicated several times that it is growing out of its jacket. Local politicians are voting for a location further down the center or in the Rensen Park.

Bieb director Nicole Stiekema will also be the director of Facet.
