P.for astronomy enthusiasts or simply for those who love the sky and the stars, the September sky will hold several surprises. During the first week, in fact, while waiting for the harvest moon, it will also be possible to observe with the naked eye, the so-called “Kiss” between the Moon and Saturn which will find themselves in a romantic conjunction.

San Lorenzo night: how to see shooting stars

Shooting stars also in September

But that’s not all. Because in the sky the shooting stars will be manythanks not to one but to two meteor showers: the epsilon Perseids and the Perseids of September.

The romantic kiss between the Moon and Saturn

As the UAI explained, theItalian Amateur Astronomers Union, on the evening of 8 September the disk of the nearly full moon will cross the constellation of Capricorn where it will meet the planet Saturn. A conjunction that, although not rare, is always very fascinating. The best time to observe this conjunction will be at 21.30. The show should be visible to the naked eye but to appreciate it even better, better equip yourself with good binoculars.

Shooting stars between the 7th and 9th of the month

The romantic kiss between the Moon and Saturn will be accompanied by two swarms of shooting stars that will reach the peak at the turn of September 8: le epsilon Perseids and the Perseids of September.

Until 7 September it will be possible to observe the first, which despite having the same name as the “Tears of San Lorenzo” that fall in Augustare actually meteorites of a medium current or less. The 9 of the month it will be the turn of Perseids of Septemberalso called Aurigidi delta in September. But, unfortunately, during the nights between 8-9 and 9-10, there will not be the most favorable conditions to be able to observe them.

The show it will in fact be disturbed by the presence of the moonlightwhose full moon will take place on the 10th of the month.

The advice to see them anyway

With some tricks, however, it will be possible to see them anyway. The best solution is observation with the naked eye in places as far away as possible from light pollution, true “enemy” of astronomical phenomena at night. In short, you have to escape the city.
