After Fall Out Boy had been spreading little more than mysterious messages for months, the time had finally come on January 18, 2023: the former emo pop punk band, which has been more in pop rock for years, released their new album SO MUCH ( FOR) STARDUST announced. It is scheduled to be released on March 24th, and the first single is “Love From The Other Side”. Now they follow up with “Heartbreak Feels So Good”.

The clip for the song features none other than Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo as a guest star, and with a joke: Fall Out Boy have prepared a prank for which they want to kidnap him in a public place. From the van they call him, his cell phone rings to the tune of Weezer’s “Undone (The Sweater Song)” rings, Cuomo answers and explains that he’s unsure if this prank is such a good idea. Their bassist Pete Wentz says to Cuomo: “Dude, you wrote ‘Africa’, you’ll do great here too!” An allusion to Weezer’s cover version of the Toto hit “Africa”. This is how it goes on:

Weezer went on the “Hella Mega” tour together with Fall Out Boy and Green Day 2021 and 2022. Their 15th album VAN WEEZER will be released in May 2021.

Fall Out Boy, named after a “Simpsons” character, formed in 2001. They broke through in 2005 amid the next wave of emo that was rampant at the time with their second record, major debut FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE, and single Sugar, We’re Going Down. The band around Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump broke up in 2009 and got back together in 2013. So far they have released seven studio albums, most recently MANIA in 2018.
