Bremen (AP) – Ex-Werder trainer Markus Anfang did not resist the verdict because of the use of a fake vaccination card.
“No objection was received here, so the penalty order has become final,” said a spokeswoman for the Bremen district court when asked by dpa. The 47-year-old would have had the opportunity to appeal until Wednesday evening.
The former Werder coach has to pay a fine totaling 36,000 euros for the offence. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, the Bremen district court issued a penalty order for 90 daily rates of 400 euros each against the 47-year-old. A penalty order was also issued against the initial assistant coach Florian Junge. However, the public prosecutor’s office did not give any details.
On November 20th, the Bremen Health Department initiated investigations against Beginners and Youngsters because of the use of fake vaccination cards. Two days later, both resigned from their posts at second division club Werder Bremen.
As early as January, the sports court of the German Football Association (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) suspended him for a year retrospectively from November 20 and sentenced him to a fine of 20,000 euros. This ban will be suspended on probation from June 10 until mid-2023.
