Meta’s marketplace reforms will not take effect in the Nordic countries of Norway, Sweden or Denmark. For Finnish companies, the changes in Facebook and Instagram mean bad news.

From August 10, Finnish companies can no longer have their store in Meta’s social media services, if they have not registered the checkout feature of Meta’s store in the United States.
Meta’s social media services include Facebook and Instagram.
Meta says in his announcementthat the future reform will utilize automated advertising with artificial intelligence, which is intended to take advantage of companies operating in the United States in particular.
With the reform, the possibility for companies to use product labels will also disappear, if the company does not have the opportunity to operate in the United States. This is presumably a big blow, especially to smaller companies’ sales through social media.
The reform does not apply to European markets in Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain and Ukraine. According to the company, the checkout feature could be introduced in the countries in question.
Other ways to promote sales
As a basis for the reform, Meta says that they strive to invest in the use of artificial intelligence in advertising. However, the activities of companies will not completely stop here in social media marketing.
– We encourage Finnish companies to use our other functions in the future to reach the customer base and promote sales, Meta’s communications are answered by email to Iltalehti.
For marketing purposes, Meta will enable companies to use their machine learning-based advertising in the future Advantage+ with shopping campaigns.
In addition, companies are advised to also use traditional social media methods for marketing, such as making reels. Ads have the option to take by clicking on the connection to the retailer of the product or service.
