Facebook event in Knokke ends in fizzle

The event was in response to a video by the Dutch De Telegraaf. In that video, two women criticized the amount of people who come to Knokke in shorts and with a fridge box. Someone didn’t think it better to organize a Facebook event today. The action initially attracted 47,000 interested people, but the eventual turnout has so far been rather disappointing.

Local residents only

At 9 o’clock this morning a call was made for a parade with the frigo box, but this was not answered. The police will keep an eye out if anything happens, but for now it will remain very quiet around the station, on the dike and on the beach. This is what the chief of police of the Damme/Knokke-Heist police zone says.

In bakery Vlamynck, after a playful action by the owner, about twenty people showed up in shorts with a fridge box, but these were mainly local residents. So the tourists did not come to Knokke.
