Facebook blunders with date of election day, numerous reports from users | Tech

It is – of course – a mistake. The elections are on Wednesday, November 22, which makes Facebook exactly one week early. Dozens of Dutch people report the error on messaging service X.

For example, someone wrote that Facebook ‘at least got there in time’. “I’m just afraid that I can’t leave my voice anywhere yet,” is what comes from the same mouth. Another reports: ‘I apparently slept for a week’.

Another user is less likely to laugh about it and lashes out at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg: “Maybe Aunt Zuckerberg should focus on the application itself instead of politics.”

About 9 million Dutch people have an account on Facebook, according to research published this year by Newcom Research. This number has decreased significantly in recent years. It is not clear what caused the error with the message. Facebook is generally inaccessible for media questions.
