Façade of thousands of kilos falls down, no bystanders around

Customers were still present in the nearby cafe Cambrinus when they were suddenly startled by a collapsed facade. Witnesses say the collapse caused the street itself to shake for a moment. The affected building was vacant dating back to the year 1735.

It is currently unclear why the facade came loose. The fire brigade immediately arrived to clear the rubble, but that was quite a job. The pieces were scattered in the street and some of the debris simply weighed too much to clear. Therefore, a crane will have to clear the street of the remaining heavy debris.

DRAMA AVOID

That the incident happened at night is a blessing in disguise. The usually busy street was empty, so the enormously heavy debris luckily didn’t end up on anyone. Now only a few cars were damaged.
