Fabric company Jan Sikkes Assen closed after bankruptcy

Fabric and curtain company Jan Sikkes is bankrupt. Jan Sikkes started in 1934 and had ten stores, including one in Assen. According to his own words, Jan Sikkes was the largest fabric company in the Netherlands.

All employees are according Omrop Friesland filed for bankruptcy on Monday. It is not yet clear whether the company can make a restart and what the consequences will be for the staff. The reason for the bankruptcy has not yet been announced.

The fabric company reports that all stores will remain closed for the time being.
