Bielefeld record goalscorer
Contrary to what was planned and announced on February 14, Fabian Klos at Arminia Bielefeld will extend it again and add a year to it. This was surprisingly announced by the likely relegated team on Friday. The club’s 34-year-old record goalscorer suffered a serious head injury after a violent collision with his team-mate Alessandro Schöpf in the Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart in early April, which should result in a longer absence and the early end of the season. The subsequent operation went without complications.
“I’ve almost started cleaning out my locker. But then I thought to myself: Leaving our stadium lying on a stretcher, that can’t be it. I’ll go on for another year,” Klos announced in a video message from Arminia. Both parties do not want the successful time together to end in this way.

“We have had very intensive talks with Fabian over the past few days and we have come to the decision that this should not be the end for him at Arminia. After eleven years and his great achievements, Fabian deserves an active farewell on the pitch in the DSC jersey. After his serious injury, he still has a long way to go before he recovers, but we will support Fabian so that we can see him again for our club in the new season,” said Bielefeld’s sporting director Samir Arabi.
Fabian Klos’ special story with Arminia Bielefeld “even more special from now on”
Klos added: “Life and football show us once again that some things can only be planned to a limited extent. From now on, my already special Arminia story is even more special and I am grateful to the club for the trust. Another chapter will be added to my story, to ours, and I will now do everything I can to be back on the pitch as quickly as possible. Celebrating victories in our stadium together with the team – that will be my drive for the next few weeks. Let’s do it together.”
