F1 Sainz eve Montmelò | Gazzetta.it

The Spaniard and his home race, with a SF-23 full of modifications: “Time will tell how well they will go: we believe it’s the right way to make the car more consistent in the race”

A special race, it couldn’t be otherwise. The home GP, al Montmelò(here the GP times) is not a race like the others for Carlos Sainz: “It’s a very special race, on a track I like, where I have fond memories from when I was a kid coming here to try to get to know Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher and to see Ferrari. Now, being here with a red, hoping to grab a podium or a win is special.”

the push of the fans

The cheering in the stands represents an extra push and motivation, but the Spaniard from Ferrari analyzes the presence of the friendly public in this way: “You can’t quantify the time you gain with the push of the fans, it’s impossible – says Carlos -. You feel them in the sense that you have a better mood that supports you, because you try to give them a smile and a joy and you are better prepared. Something positive running at home gives that”.

sf-23 updated

Sainz and his partner Charles Leclerc in Spain will race with a Ferrari SF-23 which will present improvements to which the Cavallino hopes of reversing the course of the season are placed: “We will have updates and how good they will go only time will tell: let’s take a somewhat new direction that takes us in what we believe is the right way to develop this car and make it more driveable and consistent in the race, which we know is our weak point – says Sainz – We have suffered at the start of the season: this it’s the first step in a new direction to correct things, but it’s only the first step of many others that should follow”.
