The reds don’t start well, the Red Bulls come up from behind and Max goes on the run. Charles-Perez clash at the first corner, the Mexican retires. Hamilton second, Sainz fourth
The all-Ferrari front row made one think of something more in the Mexican F1 GP for the Scuderia from Maranello. Instead, thanks to a less than happy start by Leclerc and Sainz, the winner was again Max Verstappen, who took off like a spring at the start, burning the two SF-23s. Perez was also about to pass Leclerc but the two touched and the Mexican, home idol, went off the track with his RB19 forced to retire. Not even the red flag for an accident on Kevin Magnussen’s Haas – without consequences for the driver – slowed down the Dutch world champion, who achieved his 51st career victory, like Alain Prost. Second Lewis Hamilton on Mercedes, third Leclerc with Ferrari. Then Sainz and Norris.
