In the last free practice in Monaco the Mexican from Red Bull stands out, ahead of the two Ferraris, while Max Verstappen is more detached. A great show is being prepared for F1 qualifying
At the last minute in the Monaco F1 GP, the third wheel you don’t expect appears. The Mexican Sergio Perez (Red Bull) set the best time, in the third free practice session in Monte Carlo, ahead of the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc, just 41 thousandths behind, and Carlos Sainz, at 370 thousandths. While world champion Max Verstappen finds himself in fourth place, with the other Red Bull, 409 thousandths from the top. Enough to foresee a close fight between the teams that are playing for the World Championship also in qualifying, which on the streets of the Principality are worth a big mortgage on the final success.
pole f1 projection
–
The favorite remains Leclerc, very fast and at ease on the home circuit. The Monegasque has lowered his times at every attempt, showing great confidence, so much so that it even seems easy to reach the limit. The Ferrari F1-75 remains perfect in handling in tight corners. While Carlos Sainz took longer to gain confidence in the car, also thanks to a long one at the Santa Devota corner, managing to express his maximum only at the end of the session. But pole cannot be taken for granted, as Perez’s final kick proves.
red bull nervous
–
Red Bull seemed more nervous than the red one, on a track that suits them less, and Verstappen still complained about understeer, despite the team intervening after FP2 by going back in the choice of set-ups. But never exclude the world champion from the prediction. Behind the magnificent 4, there are a Pierre Gasly risen with the AlphaTauri (will he be confirmed also in qualifying?) And an always brilliant Lando Norris with McLaren. The Mercedes Silver Arrows do not sting: Lewis Hamilton is seventh and George Russell ninth. It is unlikely that they can become real protagonists in the race as they were last Sunday at Motmelò.
