Most pilots took to the track with medium rubber, unlike what happened in the PL1 where almost everyone had opted for the soft compound at the beginning of the session. Fast track immediately: after just 10 minutes Albon had already beaten the best time of the first session. Still begins uphill for the McLaren, already in difficulty in the PL1. Excellent first part of the session for Russell, able to sign the best time with both the soft and medium compound. Some pilots, including Russell himself, Verstappen and Albon have tried the fast gum with medium rubber (which is Pirelli’s C5 for this weekend).

Good tour for Antonelli, who put himself in second position less than half an hour from the end.
