An F-16 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force made a precautionary landing at Groningen Airport Eelde tonight.
The pilot took part in an exercise over the North Sea and found out that he hardly had any fuel left on board, a spokesman for the Drenthe airport reports. RTV North.
Because Leeuwarden Air Base is closed due to renovation of the runways and Volkel Air Base in Brabant was too far away, the aircraft landed at Eelde to refuel.
The fire service was present with crash tenders as a precaution. The special type of vehicle is mainly used to extinguish aircraft fires.
