An F-16 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force made a precautionary landing at Groningen Airport Eelde tonight.
The pilot was participating in an exercise over the North Sea when he discovered a problem with the fuel system, reports RTV North.
Because Leeuwarden Air Base is closed due to renovation of the runways and Volkel Air Base in Brabant was too far away, the aircraft landed at Eelde.
The fire service was present with crash tenders as a precaution. The special type of vehicle is mainly used to extinguish aircraft fires. The F-16 will remain grounded for investigation.
