Eye-catchers Brinkman and Holterman compete for half marathon title in Egmond

Nienke Brinkman and Jill Holterman will participate in the half marathon in Egmond aan Zee on Sunday 8 January. Brinkman is the current record holder for the full marathon and won bronze at the European Championships. In addition to Brinkman and Holterman, Bo Ummels and Andrea Deelstra have agreed to participate.

Brinkman is in blazing form. She finished second at the Rotterdam Marathon earlier this year and ran a Dutch record with 2 hours, 22 minutes and 51 seconds. Brinkman thus broke a record that had stood for nineteen years. In the summer she came third at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in the marathon.

For Holterman it is the fourth time that she participates. The Egmond woman recorded her fastest time in 2018: 1.15.21 (6th woman). Fifth place in the 2020 edition was her best final ranking. She then finished just behind Ummels who finished fourth.

The Egmond half marathon will be broadcast live on TV at NH Sport on January 8 from 12 noon. The women start at 12.16 pm, after which the men start at 12.25 pm.
