Extremely proud of UNESCO recognition of military cemetery

With 509 graves of Belgian soldiers from the First World War, this cemetery is not the largest in West Flanders. There are seven times as many in De Panne, but that cemetery was not on the list. In De Panne it is a mixed cemetery and does not qualify for recognition.

Although the UNESCO recognition in Oeren and Alveringem came as a surprise, the municipality is still proud of it. They also work to play this trump card.
