“Extraordinary case” inspires FC Bayern talents

A few weeks ago, Paul Wanner became the youngest player in FC Bayern’s Bundesliga history. However, it is far from clear that the 16-year-old will continue to lace up his football boots for Munich in the future. On Säbener Straße, however, people never tire of showering the youngster with praise.

“Paul is just a good boy, down to earth and from a very good family,” said Holger Seitz, the sports director of the Bayern campus, in the “Evening News“: “He has now taken the first small step, many more will have to follow.”

After Wanner made his professional debut for the German record champions, who were badly hit by a flood of corona infections, at the start of the second half of the season in FC Bayern’s 2-1 defeat by Borussia Mönchengladbach, coach Julian Nagelsmann already praised: “He’s an incredible talent, left Foot, very fast, very sure of the ball, courageous.”

Seitz emphasizes that the many professional nominations of his youngsters were favored by the many failures, but underpins the importance for the youngsters.

“It is a confirmation of our youth work at FC Bayern”

“We are all very happy on campus when our talented players train with the professionals or, as in this exceptional case with the many positive corona cases, are allowed to help out in the squad at short notice. It is confirmation of our youth work at FC Bayern,” adds Seitz out.

In addition, the stay with the professionals is “additional motivation for all our talents who also want to move up”. In any case, the cooperation and the exchange with the professional trainer team works “very well”. It is particularly helpful that Nagelsmann and Co. used to work in the youth field.

In addition to Wanner, Lucas Copade recently celebrated his debut in the Bundesliga. Other FC Bayern talents were allowed to sit on the bench at least for the first time in a professional game. Wanner in particular stood out positively. Since the hopeful’s contract expires in the summer of 2022, according to “kicker” there is currently an “intense” fight on Säbener Straße for Wanner to extend. However, a whereabouts in Munich should not be certain for a long time.
