It is expected that 97,000 municipal reception places will be needed for refugees from Ukraine as of 1 February 2024. As a result, the reception requirement will be increased from 90,000 places to 97,000.

The new forecast assumes a net influx of 325 refugees from Ukraine per week. Although this is lower than last spring’s forecast, the number of refugees continues to increase.

The situation in Ukraine is and will remain unpredictable, so we must continue to take into account an unexpected increase in the influx. It is therefore important for municipalities and security regions to provide sufficient reception places, so that refugees from Ukraine can also be accommodated in the near future.

A new forecast for the influx of refugees from Ukraine is expected in early 2024. The government will then consider whether the expectation needs to be adjusted.
