The Agricultural House at Oostersingel 23 and 25 in Assen will be a new location to receive refugees from Ukraine. There is room for about 180 people. The existing reception locations at the Jan Bommerstraat, Eemland and the Lauwers in Assen will be extended until at least March 4 next year.
Safety region Drenthe must create a total of about 800 extra places for the reception of refugees. This is in addition to the 500 refugees who are now being received in the municipality of Assen.
According to the municipality, the Agricultural House can be made suitable for the shelter without renovation. One of the two addresses is currently still rented out, but will be available from 1 May. According to the municipality, this means that Ukrainians can be accommodated from 1 July.
