Extra police in Blankenberge for busy weekend

During the summer, the local police can count on the support of the federal police and police officers from other local areas. But this weekend it’s a bit of a mess. This is how detectives are sent to the beach.

“Special outside summer season”

About 20 police officers must ensure that there are no incidents, as there were two years ago.

Hans Quaghebeur is chief of police of PZ Blankenberge-Zuienkerke: “The special thing about it is that we are not yet in the full summer season. The announced reinforcements have not yet arrived.

We do follow the weather reports, and today and tomorrow we expect very nice weather on the coast, and also a lot of people. By the way, they’re on the way right now. And so we have to deploy extra people to ensure that those people can safely spend their free time here.”
