Extensive fire in Staden: man (86) suffers burns

Around noon, an elderly man tried to start his stove with fire accelerators, but that ended badly. He got a blowtorch in the face. The fire then spread to the living room. A passerby noticed smoke and alerted the Midwest Fire Department. He was quickly on the spot.

Yet the old house is uninhabitable. Part of the roof collapsed. The resident was transferred to AZ Delta. The municipality will find out where he can live temporarily, says mayor Francesco Vanderjeugd, who also came to the scene.
