Extended out-of-court settlement goes public to end ‘favoritism’

The federal government is making the extended amicable settlement stricter and more transparent. From now on, that settlement will have to be publicly ratified by the council chamber. In addition, the Public Prosecution Service will be able to demand a management ban of at least three years. This is stated in a bill by Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld), which has been given the green light by the Council of Ministers.
