The Expo Assen was evacuated tonight due to a gas smell that was smelled in the hall. Five hundred asylum seekers, who are being accommodated in the former TT Hall, were forced to leave the building and wait in the parking lot until the situation is safe again.
“As a precaution, the building has been evacuated,” said a spokesperson for the Drenthe Security Region, who cannot tell whether it is actually a gas leak.
The police and fire brigade were involved in the evacuation, among others.
