There is no future for Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern beyond the season. That much has been clear since this week. TV expert Dietmar Hamann is surprised that the head coach is even allowed to stay until the summer.
“When a decision like this is made, it is usually made directly. It is based a lot on the principle of hope. Those responsible hope that things will get better. There is little evidence of that,” said the 50-year-old on “Sky” on Saturday.
FC Bayern had recently lost three games in a row under Tuchel. The club then announced its separation at the end of the season.
After defeats against Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Bochum, the championship has become a long way off. There is also a risk of elimination in the Champions League after the first leg defeat against Lazio Rome. The record champions were sensationally eliminated from the DFB Cup by 1. FC Saarbrücken in the fall.
If the crisis in results continues, Hamann believes that Tuchel’s immediate exit is still conceivable. “There aren’t many arguments for the coach after the last few weeks. I don’t think something will happen after the next two games if they don’t go so well,” said the former midfielder.
Hamann sees Hoeneß as the new coach of FC Bayern
At the same time, the ex-national player does not believe that the Munich team will be able to convince Xabi Alonso to take over Tuchel’s coaching job in the summer.
“I don’t know why Xabi Alonso should go to Munich. If he stays in Leverkusen, most of the players will stay at least another year. Then they would have the chance to become champions again next year or have a very good role in the Champions League play,” said Hamann.
Meanwhile, Hamann believes it is quite realistic for Stuttgart’s successful coach Sebastian Hoeneß to get involved with FC Bayern.
“Bayern needs someone who is human again,” he demanded: “That’s why I would be with Sebastian Hoeneß at the moment, because there is a possibility of getting him if he wants to leave Stuttgart.”
