The Tilburg nightclub Club Oxy will keep its doors closed for the time being. She does this on her own initiative. An explosion occurred at the club on the night of Monday to Tuesday. Part of the facade was destroyed, as was a glass door.
The explosion took place at a quarter to five that night. There were no injuries. Police are still investigating the explosion. “We do not yet have any suspects in the picture. We also conduct trace investigations and that always takes a longer time,” said a police spokesperson.
Mayor Theo Weterings is responsible for public order and safety in the city. He closed other catering establishments in Tilburg earlier this year after explosions occurred.
A spokesperson for the mayor says she is awaiting the police investigation. “On this basis, we will determine whether it is necessary to take administrative measures.”
The reason the club remains closed is not clear. She could not be reached by telephone for comment. The club reports on social media that it will remain closed indefinitely due to unforeseen circumstances. She says she will keep visitors informed of further developments next week. If people have bought tickets for the club, they will get their money back this week.
