Explosive device found: beach and Zeedijk Oostduinkerke evacuated

Mayor Vanden Bussche: “For the safety of everyone, the Zeedijk and the beach of Oostduinkerke will be closed to the public today, probably until early this afternoon.”

The explosive device was found during works that are currently underway to clear the beach from bombs. “Meanwhile, 250 projectiles have already been defused. The Braet company and DOVO have all the expertise to defuse this explosive device,” says the mayor.

The situation is under control.
