An explosion took place in front of a porch door on the Oude IJselstraat tonight. Photos show that the door, which gives access to the apartments above, is gone. No one was injured in the explosion.
The police believe that someone set off the explosive on purpose and are looking for witnesses. No suspect has been arrested. The porch door is next to the front door of the apartment, which is located on the ground floor of the porch house. According to a police spokesman, the residents of that apartment were at home at the time of the explosion.
At around 9:45 p.m., the emergency services received the first report of the explosion. The street has now been closed off. Detectives, forensic investigation and the Explosives Reconnaissance Team Leader (TEV) are on site for an investigation.
Past incidents
There was also an explosion in the street in 2016, when a hand grenade was thrown in front of a house. A month later, the same house was the target of a shooting. In November that year it was announced that the occupant of the apartment had moved to another address.
