Were you startled by a loud bang in your sleep last night? In the night from Monday 1 to Tuesday 2 August, an explosion took place around 4 a.m. on the Van Aalstlaan in the Palenstein district.

Some slept through it, but a number of residents in Palenstein, Seghwaert, the Village and in other neighborhoods were suddenly pulled from their sleep. Not surprising: heavy fireworks probably exploded at a gray Volkswagen Golf, we read on the website of AD Zoetermeer.

The culprit has yet to be found

Emergency services, such as various police units, a specialist from the Explosive Exploration Team and later employees of Forensic Investigation, arrived immediately to conduct an investigation. The bumper and windshield of the Volkswagen were broken and other cars were damaged. An investigation will reveal who is responsible for the explosion.
