This weekend, Astrid Nienhuis once again sat down with parties in Drenthe to explore who is open to a place in the Provincial Executive of Drenthe in what form. Eight parties lined up in succession at the provincial house in Assen and Nienhuis speaks after “good talks”.
The mayor of Heemstede was appointed scout in Drenthe shortly after the elections. Yesterday she came to Assen for a second round of interviews. According to her, the fact that this was not with all parties does not mean that the other parties are no longer in the picture. The parties that did enter into talks with Nienhuis were winner BBB, CDA, SP, PVV, VVD, JA21, ChristenUnie and PvdA.
Nienhuis does not want to say how the second round of talks went. “I’m not going to anticipate that until I’ve finished my report. The conversations were in any case sufficient to get a picture of everyone’s position.” For the scout, the coming days will be devoted to writing her reconnaissance report, which she wants to have completed by 7 April.
“I will then present that report to the Provincial Council and then it is up to them to debate and deliberate about it. And then we will see what happens next,” said Nienhuis.
In any case, it became clear last week that BBB, the winner in Drenthe in the recent elections, wants a broad coalition and that things have to be different than in recent years. According to BBB party chairman Gert-Jan Schuinder, the new management style starts with a coalition agreement in outline. No ‘sealing’ and evaluate after two years whether the course and plans are good.
