The incidence of coronavirus in Russia will increase in the near future. This was announced by the Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Professor Natalya Pshenichnaya, reports “RIA News”.
This is due to the fact that the Russian regions are at different stages of the epidemic rise in the incidence, she noted. In addition, a rapid increase in the number of cases will occur due to the spread of the omicron variant in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Rospotrebnadzor predicted the peak of the COVID-19 wave by mid-February
At the same time, the peak incidence will decline by the end of February – early March, the next rise will take place in March-April and early September, the director of the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after G.P. Somov of Rospotrebnadzor, Professor of the FEFU School of Biomedicine Mikhail Shchelkanov.
According to him, now there is a “winter” epidemic increase in the incidence – primarily coronavirus, but also influenza A, adenovirus and other pathogens of acute respiratory infections.
