Expert police support for foreign fans coming to Diyarbakir for the Turkey-Scotland match



A special team of 200 expert police with foreign language knowledge was formed by the Provincial Police Department for approximately 1000 Scottish fans expected to come to the city before the national football team’s match against Scotland on 16 November in Diyarbakır. The team, which will be divided into groups, will accompany the Scottish fans from their arrival in the city to their visits in tourist areas. 3 search points will be created for the fans who will enter the stadium with electronic tickets from 5 main arrivals. In addition, English and Turkish direction signs will be placed around the stadium.


The excitement of the national match continues in Diyarbakır, where the National Football Team will be hosted for the first time. Work continues on the friendly match to be played against Scotland on November 16 at Diyarbakır Stadium. 9,500 seats that were broken or damaged in the 33 thousand-seat stadium, which was purchased on October 26, were renewed. In addition, the preparations for the renovation of the lodges, locker rooms and reserve benches and the preparation of the ground for the match were accelerated. After the license to be given by UEFA to the stadium, which will have a new face, the city will continue to host international matches. Hoteliers and tourism professionals, whose reservations are full until the match day, are waiting for local and foreign tourists who will come to the city for the match.

The team, which was formed after the meeting under the coordination of the Provincial Police Chief Fatih Kaya, will accompany the fans during their arrival in the city and their tours in touristic areas. In addition, the teams will patrol in many districts, especially the historical Sur district, where the fans will tour. The areas inside and outside the stadium, where ready-made force teams will also take part, will be controlled by cameras. The fans who do not have a ticket for the match where the electronic ticket system is applied will be removed from the stadium. The stadium, where fans will be taken from 5 main arrivals, will also be entered after 3 search points. On the other hand, the green area around the 33 thousand-seat stadium was taken into care by the Metropolitan Municipality. Tree care and flower planting were carried out in the areas where the preparations were carried out by the Parks and Gardens Department. English and Turkish signs were also placed around the stadium. In addition, it was stated that the number of firefighters and health personnel will be increased while health rooms are being created inside the stadium.
