Russian troops last night fired on the Ukrainian nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhya, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe with six reactors. The fire that ensued was extinguished, but how great could the nuclear risk have been for Ukraine and the rest of Europe? We asked nuclear physicist Nathal Severijns (KU Leuven).
