Experience Munich from a different perspective with the FW24 collection from Maerz

With our SS24 collection we have already been inspired by Munich, its architecture and the districts in the center.

For FW24 we want to continue this idea and discover new sides of Munich: The first capsule focuses on the Werksviertel in the east of Munich. It represents modernity and shows a new, more urban and industrial part of the city.

In September we follow the path of composer EdwardElgar with his work ‘Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands’, which celebrates Munich and its alpine skyline and compares it to the Scottish Highlands.

Pre-Fall: Last Days of Summer

Enjoy the last days of summer. In and out of town.

Munich in summer offers endless possibilities: parks, roof terraces, rivers, cafes or daytime bars. The best way to start the day is with a coffee at your favorite café and enjoy your lunch break under a parasol – it’s so hot that you don’t want to sit in the direct sun, but you still have to eat outside because it’s summer and the sun is shining.

If the temperatures are just right and you don’t want to go home yet – probably because it’s just too warm in the apartment – the day can be ended perfectly in one of the many restaurants and bars.

Tired of summer in the city?

There are many options to escape the city and explore the surrounding area. There is more space and fewer people here. Depending on where you go, it can also mean more space and a lot more people. It is ideal to have your own allotment garden where you can escape from everyday life and take care of the garden, organize barbecues, invite friends or simply lie in the sun. An alternative would be the many lakes with mountain panoramas around Munich, which are perfect for cooling off.

The Pre-Fall collection is a mix of ready-to-wear and cross-season styles. Qualities that are neither too warm nor too light and can be worn from July until the start of winter: Layering can therefore always create new styling combinations.

New Perspectives: Werksviertel – New Industrial

For our second capsule, we were inspired by the Werksviertel in Munich, which is located in the east of the city – right next to the Ostbahnhof – one of the largest train stations in the city.

The Werksviertel was originally owned by the Pfanni company, which used the site as a production site from 1949 to 1996 and thus shaped the cityscape of the east of Munich.

In 1996, some of the production halls were completely demolished or repurposed for concerts or clubs.

In 2003, a new concept for the area and its surroundings was developed: In the future, the former Pfanni site would be transformed into a new lifestyle district in Munich. With concert halls, restaurants, office space, residential areas, schools and shopping opportunities. The factory district.

The architecture is a mix of modern concrete construction, with many glass facades and green spaces. A new face for the east of Munich with a slightly industrial influence based on the previous use of the area.

For our second FW24 capsule, we transferred these impressions into modern styles with workwear and heritage character. Highlights are details made up of geometric shapes and elements.

New perspectives: Munich Highlands ‒ Well Outside

In our third capsule we discover autumn in Munich: city flair with a mountain panorama.

As early as 1885, Munich’s unique mountain skyline was admired – especially by the British composer Edward Elgar: He traveled through Bavaria and was so fascinated by Munich and its alpine surroundings that he wrote the work ‘Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands’. It is a 6-part orchestral and choral work, each of which is dedicated to a mountain in the Munich area, which seemed to him like the Scottish Highlands.

We also found the comparison to the Highlands apt: vast landscapes, lakes, mountains… and from an urban perspective, everything is close by and offers an exciting contrast to the urban flair.

The best places to see this effect are the Munich rooftops: the view from above shows the architecture and landscape – the highlands – of Munich best.

The roof terrace of the German Museum, the M’unique Rooftop, the Flushing Meadows or the former Vorhölzer Forum at the TUM University in Maxvostadt are just a few of the many examples that can be found in the city.

For our September capsule, we translate these influences into styles with a British tailored character, reflected in checks and qualities such as flannel and tweed.
