Expensive loss of points for ten Telstar visiting Helmond Sport

For a long time Telstar seemed on its way to a three-pointer against Helmond Sport. That changed after Christos Giousis was shown a red card. To make matters worse, the Brabant team scored 2-2 deep in injury time via Elmo Lieftink.

Telstar caused the first danger on a visit to Helmond Sport. Delvechio Blackson, who was called up for Suriname for the first time this week, had the opening goal on his shoe. Christos Giousis gave the cross, but Blackson shot wide through goalkeeper Mike Havekotte. A few minutes later the roles were reversed and then it was hit.

The Greek rounded off on the instructions of the Surinamese defender: 0-1. A new cross from Blackson made Davin Min dangerous, but he tipped the ball into the side netting. Jayden Turfkruier was also able to score the second goal, but his shot went wide. As a result, Telstar’s lead remained narrow.

That doubling of the margin came immediately after the break. Min shot the ball from a distance beyond Havekotte’s reach: 0-2. That positive feeling did not linger for a long time, because Helmond Sport quickly scored the connection goal. Monnickendammer Martijn Kaars scored the goal: 1-2. Min seemed to extend the lead again, but his shot went wide. After a red card for goal scorer Giousis, the game turned.

The ten of Telstar held up well against the surplus situation. It still went wrong in the final phase. Elmo Lieftink finally plunged the people of Velsen into deep mourning: 2-2. As a result, Telstar seemed to be doing good business in the battle for the play-offs, but it is still damaged.

The people of Velsen are stuck in eleventh place with forty points. Telstar will play the next match on Sunday 26 March against TOP Oss.
