Volunteers are harder to find and members drop out; Associations are finding it increasingly difficult. But not at the Historical Circle in Hoogeveen. They not only have many members there, but even a waiting list for volunteers.
This episode of Expeditie Nederland is about the dying association life. What do associations do to survive and what is the secret of a flourishing association?
Reporter Ineke Kemper is visiting the Historical Circle in Hoogeveen. It has thousands of members and 140 volunteers in various working groups.
Some working groups even have a waiting list for volunteers. There are volunteers who distribute the membership magazine, sort out old photos, or manage the archive.
We take a look as the volunteers gather and talk to some of them. (Text continues below the video)
