Expedition in the Netherlands: Oude Willem agricultural land returned to nature

In Oude Willem, a hamlet in the middle of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, agricultural land was returned to nature five years ago. And nature has been taking its course ever since.

For Expeditie Nederland we look at how nature is doing five years later. We look at the constructed swale that must retain water in the area in the autumn and winter. That is the place where the potatoes, strawberries and lilies used to be in the ground. But we also go to the former Tilgrup, a canal that has been filled in. And we are on the mountain of Oude Willem, also called the Oude Willemsberg.

There you can enjoy cycling and walking on a path that winds through nature.
